I'm Oona Niskanen — illustrator, graphic designer and Art Director based in Helsinki, Finland.

I currently work as the Art Director for Lapsen Maailma, one of Finland's leading family and parenting magazines. Alongside that, I take on freelance illustration and design projects for brands, organisations and publishers.

My background is a little unusual for a designer: I trained as an occupational therapist before moving into visual design. That background shapes everything about how I work — I listen carefully, ask the questions others might skip, and approach every brief as a problem to be solved together, not just a visual to be produced.

The result is work that doesn't just look right — it communicates clearly, serves its purpose, and reflects the people behind it.
